Mission Statement The ARTT Project provides online visual arts mentoring for students who submit their artwork via a password-protected website to professional artists, teachers, and other students for sharing, critique, and reflection. ARTT includes opportunities for display of original student artwork and provides professional development in technology applications for educators.

History

In 1995 the US Department of Education provided funds to Vermont schools via the WEB Project to build an innovative online network of students, teachers, artists and community organizations to work together to help improve student performance in the arts, humanities and social sciences.

Over time participants have worked together to modify this system to a request-respond-reply process through which ARTT affirms students as artists, improves the quality of work presented, provides a model for respectful reflection and critique and demonstrates the use of art vocabulary in online and in-class communication.
